From 1 February 2007, the new law on smoking ban will apply in France.

Established to prevent the cohabitation of smokers and non-smokers, the new decree is the first action against passive smoking. It also reinforces the prohibition on smoking in all places frequented by young people (schools, training centers, dormitories ...), health facilities and public transport.

smoking ban The decree allows additional time to bars, hotels, restaurants and discotheques until 1 January 2008.

It also gives the opportunity to develop specific locations available to smokers, but these "smoking rooms" are subject to a specification so draconian that it discourages done so to consider this type of installation.

The decree involves the smoking ban, the requirement to establish signs for places non-smokers, but also for "smoking".

It also establishes a scale of penalties for individuals and employers in the event of non compliance with the prohibition of smoking but also for failure to signal and failure to meet the standards for smoking.
